Community Transitional School

This wonderful school offers children in Portland's homeless community a real education. Kids are also given meals, clothing and sundries to help them on a day-to-day basis. We have raised money and donated school supplies to this terrific organization. After a very successful capital campaign, the Community Transitional School has built a brand new school at it's own permanent location in NE Portland. Congratulations to CTS!

Thanksgiving Dinner - Free to the Public

For five years running, we have been a leading sponsor in support of serving a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner to the community. Beginning in downtown Beaverton, then expanding to the Tigard area, this event has grown to serve nearly 1000 people in 2007. Through volunteering and financial support, we strive to make sure a Thanksgiving celebration is available to everyone. If you would like to help with financial and volunteer needs, please write us.

Wishes on Wheels - Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital

Our continuing support of this event helps serve the children in this exceptional hospital. It is hard to imagine a more fun-filled way to raise dollars than to battle on the racetrack with Boy Scout style Pinewood derby cars. Over the past few years, more than $325,000 have been raised!

Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital

For the past few years, we have volunteered in this fine hospital by adding Holiday decorations to the front lobby. This has involved several patients in the rehabilitation clinic in the joy of the Holiday season.
Portland Metro Rotary goes International

Children's Orphanage in Poland:

We are very pleased to support children overseas. This orphanage serves many wonderful children without family resources in Poland. Our financial support goes a long way toward providing food, clothing, and school supplies.

International Exchange Students

By sending students abroad to study in another country, we offer youth to experience different cultures, meet interesting people and study in foreign schools. We also host inbound students from other countries and host them in local families.

Ambassadorial Scholars

Graduate students have the opportunity to learn and teach in other lands. By sending Ambassadorial Scholars abroad, we hope to strengthen them personally, as well as allow them to share their American and Rotarian experiences with others.

Rotary Friendship Exchange

Non-Rotary adults can partner with a Rotary host to share vocational and lifestyle experiences with people from around the World. By inviting foreign guests to visit us in return, people in the community can see other cultures in action while being hosted in private homes. It is a great way to see the World.

Group Study Exchanges

PMR sponsors and assists both inbound and outbound Group Study Exchanges.  These are groups of 4 to 6 non-Rotarian professionals who qualify through our program to participate in a three to four week vocational exchange in a foreign country.   Participants are accompanied by a Rotarian from our District as they are sheparded through contacts with Rotary Clubs and businesses in the participating country.

Since all Group Study Exchanges involve a group of professionals from each country, a second part of the process is hosting the group coming from the partnering country.  Local Rotarians provide social and professional interactions with the inbound group as part of the overall cultural experience.

Group Study Exchanges usually occur once a year.  So check with the club about when the next one might be available.  You'll want to apply for what could be the experience of a lifetime.
