Attack on America
September 11, 2001

Rotarians of the United States are among the most patriotic of Americans.  The sole purpose for being a Rotarian can be identified in the simplest, yet most profound of terms, "Service".

Since the tragic loss of life in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, a "Call to Action" should be the prime focus of Rotarians the world over.  We must first defend the principles and security of this great Nation. We should also befriend anyone who faces alienation or prejudice and let them know there is a family of Rotarians who welcomes them at their table. Whether taking up a new campaign to serve against this great tragedy, or to maintain the primary focus of each individual Rotary Club, now may be the time for this generation to put the ideal of Rotary to it's greatest test,

"Service Above Self"

Portland Metropolitan Rotary will always fly the American Flag on this site to remember those touched the world over by the heartless terrorist attacks on America of September 11, 2001. Please share this message in hopes that Rotary web sites everywhere will join in this gesture of honor to our fallen.
